<<PLEASE SHARE>> Ryan and Stephanie French have co <<PLEASE SHARE>> Ryan and Stephanie French have completed a combined 205 workouts at Bay Athletic Club this year and lost a combined 106 pounds. Those are numbers to be proud of, as working parents of two kids, ages 9 and 11. Ryan is a sports journalist and Stephanie is a nurse. They have made fitness a new priority in their lives and have no plans of slowing down. The Frenchs moved to Alpena from Chicago after the pandemic to be closer to Ryan’s parents, Howard and Ginny French, and help care for his dad who was suffering from dementia. Stephanie was a burned out, unhealthy nurse with Type 1 Diabetes who was taking care of everyone but herself. Last Christmas, Ryan joined BAC. He comes to the gym in the morning before work and has made it a habit. He encouraged Stephanie to take the leap, but she was nervous, having a bad experience at in the past at a fitness studio chain where she felt judged and pressured to work beyond her means. He told her this would be different, and it was. She was invited by BAC teammate Sara Zimmerman to enroll in our Body Beauty strength training program for women and found her groove. She enjoyed evening workouts and support from the instructors. She started venturing into other classes and realized that no one is watching or judging. Her activity has changed a lot about her overall health, improving her blood sugar, her sleep, her energy and her overall confidence. The Frenchs healthy lifestyle have a ripple effect in the family, their daughter went out for junior high cross country, even though she was nervous. The Frenchs love being back “home” to Alpena, where Ryan grew up. They enjoy life even more on the healthy side. CONGRATS!
